Tips & Tricks

Always review your lettering in the simulator before stitching

After generating your lettering, use the stitch simulator to inspect it before sending it to your machine. Pay attention to stitch count (higher counts mean longer run times), design dimensions (make sure it fits your hoop), stitch density (too high causes puckering, too low leaves gaps), and the color change sequence. Zoom in to check that thin strokes and small letters are well-formed. If anything looks off, go back and adjust font size, spacing, or style before wasting thread and fabric. Note that some lettering combinations — especially very small sizes, unusual characters, or certain font and curve pairings — may not generate successfully.

Always test lettering on scrap fabric first

Lettering is unforgiving when it comes to tension, stabilizer, and fabric stretch. Always stitch a test run on scrap fabric with the same material and stabilizer before your final piece. Small letters especially need a test to verify readability.

Keep text short for best results

Machine embroidery lettering works best with short text — names, monograms, and brief phrases. Long sentences tend to lose clarity at typical embroidery sizes. If you need more text, consider splitting it across multiple lines or increasing the overall size.
