Free PEC Viewer
Open and preview PEC embroidery files from Brother (legacy) in your browser. See the stitch-by-stitch animation, stitch count, dimensions, and thread colors. No download. No account.
What is a PEC file?
PEC is the older Brother embroidery format and the stitch container embedded inside every .pes file. Some older Brother and Babylock machines read standalone .pec files directly.
What you can do with a PEC file here
- Watch it stitch out. The simulator plays the file one stitch at a time, with adjustable speed, so you can spot density issues and trim/jump count problems before you stitch on real fabric.
- Read the metadata. Stitch count, dimensions, color sequence, thread length estimate, and machine path — all without opening digitizing software.
- Edit thread colors. Reassign any color to a custom hex or match against Madeira, Robison-Anton, Gunold, Isacord, or Sulky thread codes, then export the palette.
- Convert to another format. Save to DST, PES, JEF, EXP, VP3, HUS, XXX, PNG, SVG, or G-code without leaving the page.

Frequently asked
Do I need to install software to view a PEC file?
No. Freemoonie runs in your browser. Drop the file on the page and the viewer renders it. No account, no download, files up to 50 MB.
Will my PEC file be uploaded to a server?
The file is sent to our server only long enough to parse it, then deleted within 24 hours. We don't keep it and we don't train on it.
Can I convert a PEC file to another machine's format?
Yes. The converter targets DST, PES, JEF, EXP, VP3, HUS, XXX, PEC, plus PNG, SVG, and G-code.
